Current Programs

Rare launches up to four new cohorts of Pride campaigns annually, with each cohort focused on a specific threat shared by all sites and partners involved. Below you will find information on cohorts that launched in 2010, as well as a list of cohorts in development for which Rare is currently accepting partner applications.

Rare is training and mentoring nine Rare Conservation Fellows and eight fisheries experts in Guadalajara to implement campaigns focused on reducing overfishing throughout Latin America.

Cohorts in development:

Program for Watershed and Habitat Protection in Latin America

Building on the success of the 2010 program, Rare is currently developing a second cohort in Latin America for Reciprocal Agreements for Watershed and Wildlife conservation in 2012-2014. We are now accepting Expressions of Interest from organizations interested in gaining public support for building reciprocal agreements between upstream and downstream communities. Program for Sustainable Fishing and Agriculture in Micronesia

To address some of the region’s primary threats such as sustainable fishing and watershed erosion, Rare is currently developing a program in Micronesia. We are now accepting Expressions of Interest from organizations interested in gaining public support for conservation efforts. Training and mentoring will be administered in English.

Program for Sustainable Fishing in Southeast Asia

To address one of the region’s primary threats, overfishing, Rare has already launched 22 Pride campaigns in Indonesia, Timor Leste, and the Philippines in the past year. We are now accepting applications for a cohort of 12 additional campaigns at priority marine sites in Southeast Asia in 2011. Training and mentoring will be administered in Bahasa Indonesia.
