Jianguo brings valuable private sector experience that he’ll translate to this leadership role with the China team. Prior to joining Rare, he was the founding CEO of a five billion RMB (nearly $800 million dollars) private equity fund. Earlier, he was a senior investment officer with the International Finance Corporation where he was responsible for the successful completion of China's private sector study.
Jianguo has also worked for the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) foreign affairs department and became a division director in charge of education exchange programs with the Uniteds States, Canada and Australia. During his tenure with the MOE he also worked as a senior program officer in charge of innovative programs funded by development aid agencies and other donors, all of which were aimed at providing more equal education opportunities for disadvantaged groups and regions. He holds a master’s degree in education and development from the Institute of Education University of London and has also studied at the London School of Economics and the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
