Trustee, The Nature Conservancy of Montana

Jan has worked in the fields of natural resources and science policy; she is currently focused on conservation. Her 15-year service to The Nature Conservancy includes, the Board of Directors- Secretary and Executive Committee, Co-Chair Trustees Council, Governance and Human Resources Committee, and Chair of the Ohio Chapter where she is now an Honorary Life Trustee.  She recently joined the Board of The Nature Conservancy of Montana. She served for a decade on the Board of the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens and chaired the Governance Task Force. With her husband Wym, she is co-chair for the Ohio River Trail Campaign-a hike and bike trial. 

Ms. Portman has degrees in geological sciences from Harvard University and Smith College.  She and her husband Wym live in Cincinnati and have recently restored a barn in the Blackfoot Valley of Montana where they love to spend time, especially with their three children, Lisbet, Mark and Lucy.
